1.         Welcome

The Chairman welcomed all present and opened the meeting with a prayer.


2.         Apologies

Stuart Long, Marilyn Dowie, Phillip and Duifie van der Merwe, Linda Benade.


3.         Minutes of the previous meeting held on 21st February 2017

3.1       Dot Knorr mentioned that a misunderstanding regarding the loyal and lapsed membership was noted.


3.2       Amendments to the Minutes of 21st February 2017

             The minute should read – Mrs Dot Knorr mentioned that Conservancy had 34 renewals after a letter was                    sent out to our loyal members.


3.3       Acceptance of the minutes held on 21st February 2017

             Proposed by Dot Knorr and Seconded by Geoff Sander.


4.         Finance

4.1       Dot Knorr mentioned that the money matters are fine.  It was also mentioned that the Audited books might                  not be ready for the AGM due to illness of the Auditor.  A date on the computer programme was not        

             registering correctly.  Will be corrected by an IT programmer.


5.         Membership

             Mrs Dot Knorr mentioned 127 members and at the meeting we had 52 renewals.


             The Chairman asked the Committee members and people in attendance to canvas for members for Conservancy                as this is the only way we will get funds.  Conservancy does not ask the public or property owners for money for                    projects in Marloth Park.


              Dot Knorr requested a stand be made for the fair wherein Keith’s notes from his talks can be displayed.  The                           Chairman asked if he could leave the idea with Geoff Sander.


              Thea Sander asked if a few of the birding list she has compiled can be printed to be displayed at the Fair.  Keith                   Knorr said it will be in order.


6.          Alien Plants

              Malvesturn – Part of the Hibiscus family – Alien plant and and is very difficult to pull out as it has an enormous tap                 root.  Keith further noted that the Parthenium is taking over in the KNP.


7.         Gruispan

            Derrick Bruins-lich thanked the Honorary Rangers, Wildlife Task Force, Stuart Long and Errol Potgieter for helping               to clear Parthenium at Gruispan.  Soil erosion was also tackled at Gruispan by packing rocks and we will, when the             rains comes, see if there were any other areas around Gruispan that need more rocks.  Alf Felgate reminded the                   Chairman that the name of the person who drilled the borehole to be added on the board of donations at Gruispan.


8.         Two Trees Parking Area

             The Chairman mentioned that the work at Two Trees has been completed.  Trees have been planted and wire put                around each tree.  Water will be given on a regular basis.  Derrick said he approached the Contractors working on              the N4 for a donation of fine gravel to be used at Two Trees. Derrick said we need about 2 loads and he will phone              around for a donation for the gravel.


9.         Grass Seeds

             No sales.


10.       Report back on Nature Walks

             The nature walk will be moved to the 22nd April 2017.  A poster will be put up on the notice board at the Marlothii                  Shopping Centre.  The time will change from 6 am to 7 am in winter, i.e. May, June, July and August.


11.       General

11.1      Report back from the Forum Meeting.

Nothing of importance to report.


11.2    Nolan Spratt requested the status of the issuing of summonses to people

            living in Marloth Park regarding pets be minuted.  The Chairman mentioned that summonses had been      

            issued.  Awaiting a date for the court date.


11.3     Keith Knorr discussed various grass types that grew in Marloth Park over the last year and mentioned that                not all the grass was palatable to the animals.  The Ralf Kalwa report was discussed in length.


11.4    Tree Tags

                This will be finalised after the holidays.


11.5     Facebook & Webpage

              Our webpage can be found at AGM minutes were also posted.  It was               also noted that Andrew Hudson will be contacted for advice of posting tables on the webpage.


11.6       The Chairman read a letter from Mrs. Dot Knorr wherein she resigned as Committee Member and will                          finish her stint at the end of April 2017.  Derrick thank Dot for all the wonderful work she has done on the                    Committee in keeping the membership list up to date as well as the money matters.  The Chairman also                      mentioned that nominations are awaited for the AGM on the 25th April 2017.

The next meeting will take place on 23rd May at 09h00 at Henk van Rooyen.
