1.    Welcome:

 The Chairman welcomed Phillip and Duifie v.d. Merwe and opened the meeting with a prayer.


2.    Apologies.

       Alf Felgate, Jeanette Newey.


3.    Minutes of the previous meeting held on 25th October, 2016.

3.1   Amendments to the minutes of 25th October 2016. - None

 3.2   Acceptance of the minutes: Proposed: Llewellyn Burger, Accepted – Geoff Sander

 3.3   Matters arising out of Minutes of 25th October 2016:


4.    Finance.

4.1    Financial Statements.  To Follow.

       4.2   New Signatories plus EFT.  Done


5.    Membership.

       Dot Knorr mentioned that we had 131 members and 21 not paid up.


6.    Alien Plants.

       It was mentioned that there are too many alien plants in Marloth Park and property owners

       were asked to contact Conservancy if they are unsure of plants.

       Derrick Bruins-Lich mentioned that there are a tremendous amount of potato plants coming

       up all over Marloth Park.


7.  Gruispan.

       7.1 Borehole

       The Chairman explained the situation to the meeting and mentioned that the Gruispan

       pump installation would be complete in 2 weeks’ time.    Errol Potgieter mentioned that he

       saw 2 white faced ducks on the water.

       Stuart Long thanked all with Gruispan for the great job they are doing.   It was noted that

       there are a lot of Weaver nests at Croc Pan.

       The Chairman thanked Llewellyn Burger for donating small fish for Gruispan.


8.         Sickle bush Thinning.

      No activity at the moment.


9.         Grass Seed Sales.

`      The Chairman mentioned that Conservancy had no more grass seed. A new batch of grass

       seed might arrive this week.

       Dot Knorr thanked Derrick and Sanet for the selling of the grass seed.  She mentioned that

       Conservancy has sold well in excess of 3000-00 worth of grass seed this year.


10.     Report back on Nature walk – 19th November 2016.

       Keith Knorr mentioned that this last walk and talk was not well attended.  After a

       discussion it was decided that a WALK AND TALK will take place on 10TH  

       DECEMBER 2016 at 06h00 at Henk van Rooyen Park, especially for holiday makers.



11.    General.

       11.1  Report back on Forum Meeting –  5th November 2016.

                 Not much to report back on. 

       11.2   Game Culling.

                 It was mentioned that all culling has stopped for 2016.


       11.3   Rhinos in Lionspruit.

                 The Rhinos are doing well.   The 7 Buffalo are all cows and they still need some feed.


       11.4   Tree Tags.

                  The team identifying trees along Olifants road are finished and they will now refine the


                  The tags will most probably only be ordered next year.


       11.5    Business Cards.

                  Keith Knorr will complete and have them ready for the fair on the 17th December, 2016


       11.6    Two Trees.

                   Geoff Sander and Derrick Bruins-Lich decided to officially name “Two Trees” with                                  two sign boards.  Derrick thanked Geoff Sander for the hard work he did on designing

                   and cutting out the names.


       11.7    Flee Market 17 December 2016.

                  A flea market will be held on the 17th December 2016 at the Marlothii Shopping Centre

                  in  Oliphant’s road.  Conservancy will have 2 stands.


       11.8    Web Site and Facebook

                   Sanet Bruins-Lich and Thea Sander will give more attention to the Website in 2017.


       11.9    Assets Register.

                  Keith and Dot Knorr will draw up an Assets Register.


      11.10   Stripping of Aloe Leaves.

                  The Chairman, Derrick Bruins-Lich noted that a new tendency is developing in

                  Marloth Park.  The Caretakers/gardeners are removing the bottom dead leaves from the


                  He mentioned that those leaves are there to protect the Aloe’s stem in case of a fire and

                  heat from the sun.


                  Property Owners are therefore requested to inform their caretakers/gardeners to please

                  stop if they are removing these leaves.


                  A gardener in Swartwitpens Road was caught with a pick going into the veldt.  When

            asked what he was going to do, he mentioned he was going to take flowers for his

           garden out of the veldt. 


                  It is unlawful to remove any plants in the Marlothii Conservancy.


The Chairman wished the committee and members of the Marlothii Conservancy and all Property Owners a blessed Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

The Next Marlothii Conservancy meeting will take place on the   24TH JANUARY 2017 at 09h00 at Henk van Rooyen Park, Marloth Park.
